Teletrac Navman provides vehicle tracking services to trades, building and civil construction industries to improve employee productivity and safety. However, with ongoing shortages of skilled workers, these sectors are under strain and need multipronged approaches to attract and retain staff. RNZ reports that the construction industry is currently 30,000 workers short and Stuff has reported that the plumbing workforce needs to grow by 32 per cent in order to keep up with the current demand in Auckland alone.
Teletrac Navman’s industry partners Civil Contractors New Zealand (CCNZ) and Master Plumbers both have fantastic initiatives to attract and train new recruits in their industries. These initiatives, EPIC and Masterlink respectively, provide great benefits for both job seekers and businesses looking to fulfil apprenticeship roles.
Civil Contractors New Zealand – EPIC

With EPIC there are numerous opportunities for keen people to launch and grow their careers in infrastructure. EPIC also partners with group to promote a diverse workforce in the industry. For example , The Ultimit Women in Infrastructure Network , which encourages women to put on the high vis vest.
For employers, EPIC offers a digital toolkit that is packed with a collection of photos, videos, pre-built social media posts and collateral for emails, websites and presentations. This digital toolkit can be used to spread the word to job seekers in your region to join your business.
Master Plumbers – Masterlink
Owned by respected membership organisation Master Plumbers, Masterlink is the only apprentice programme in New Zealand with plumbing as its sole focus.
Candidates are interviewed, screened and recruited before being placed with a ‘host’ company for the duration of their apprenticeship. While the host businesses take care of real life, hands-on teaching, Masterlink manages the apprentice’s polytechnic block course training, covering their fees ($11k+) and providing them with a starter tool kit & PPE gear worth $2,000. Masterlink provides the best value and support for plumbing/drainlaying and gasfitting apprentices. Each apprentice is matched with a regional mentor who helps them keep on track to qualify for their New Zealand Certificate. Masterlink apprentices earn while they learn – avoiding student debt and getting a head start in the workplace. Masterlink pays the apprentice’s wages (even while they attend courses) and manages their PAYE, ACC, health & safety and HR. Masterlink supports their apprentices every step of the way and sets them firmly on the path to a great trade with a surprising variety of career options.
We’re proud to regularly work with Civil Contractors New Zealand and Master Plumbers, and we support their commitment to their respective industries.
