Teletrac Navman’s DIRECTOR showcased at Master Plumbers Conference

It was another successful year for the Master Plumbers conference in Nelson this week where new technologies were showcased promising a safer, faster, better world of work. Teletrac Navman was there to offer expert telematics insights to the plumbing industry.

Teletrac Navman made a strong case for business owners in the plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying trades by demonstrating the benefits of vehicle tracking software to the plumbing industry.

Dave Strong of Morrinsville Plumbing and Martin de Gouw of Clyne & Bennie Plumbing stopped by the Teletrac Navman stand to share their experiences since installing Teletrac Navman.

Morrinsville Plumbing

Morrinsville Plumbing provides plumbing, gas fitting, and drainage services to residential, commercial and industrial customers in the Waikato. When Dave Strong and his two business partners bought the business in 1992 the company employed just four staff. Now it has 16 people, 14 vans and two trucks.

Dave is deputy chair of the Master Plumbers Association. When he started looking for a reliable and efficient tracking solution for his business he asked around his colleagues in the industry, the majority of whom used and recommended Teletrac Navman. In March 2010, Morrinsville Plumbing installed Teletrac Navman in every vehicle in the business – even the company directors’ cars.

“I wouldn’t go back to working without Teletrac Navman. It is definitely a tool to be used in today’s economic climate. It’s worth the investment if you can solve one problem per month” says Dave.

Clyne & Bennie Plumbing

Master Plumber Clyne & Bennie Plumbing has over 70 years combined management experience in Christchurch. During that time, the company has built a credible reputation for providing exceptional residential and commercial plumbing services.

Managing Director Martin de Gouw made the decision to install the Teletrac Navman fleet tracking system to help increase the efficiency of staff members and increase fuel savings.

“Initially we decided to use Teletrac Navman to help our mobile service team, so dispatch would be aware of the locations of our staff and not send one member from A to B, and back to A again. Dispatch can now see who is the best placed driver to attend a job,” said Martin.

Being able to better monitor the locations of the service team has also allowed the business to speed up conversations with its customers. “We can easily let customers know when our team members are due to arrive on site and if there’s a delay along the way we can quickly inform and update them with a new arrival time. Overall, it’s sped up how we respond to customer queries,” continued Martin.

Any potential disputes are also resolved quickly. “It’s easy to lose track of time and everyone does it but with Teletrac Navman we’re able to produce accurate reports for clients that can’t be argued against,” said Martin.

Next level work

For both Dave and Martin, it was a game changer to install a GPS fleet management system. Some of the benefits they soon noticed within their businesses include significant savings from reduced invoice queries, increased efficiency and time savings, and better use of company vehicles and assets among others. They took their plumbing businesses to the next level, will you?
