The cabin of a truck is one of the deadliest workplaces
The second highest fatality rate was the Transport, postal and warehousing industry with 8.7 fatalities per 100,000 workers. This is 16% higher than the five year average of 7.5 fatalities per 100,000 workers.1
Similarly in NZ, in 2022 alone there were 62 deaths in crashes involving trucks and 44 deaths involved driver fatigue.2 Furthermore, there were 80 collisions that caused serious injury and 460 collisions that caused minor injury, leading to 717 people suffering from serious or minor injuries.
